Description
The Behringer TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC500USB Vacuum Tube Pre-amplifier gives you the sound quality of a vintage tube preamp and a high-end DI box all-in-one, plus a built-in USB audio interface that lets you record straight to your computer. The hand-selected 12AX7 tube and preamplifier can be used to warm up a signal fast, giving it depth and character in applications for recordings, live sound, podcasts, voice-overs, and more.
Featuring XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors, the preamplifier has +48V phantom power so you can use high-quality condenser mics. There is a rotary switch with 16-preamp voicings, which covers a wide range of applications for vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards, and more. Other features include a powerful headphone output with level control knob and direct monitor select switch.
Additionally, you can connect directly to your Windows or Mac computer via a single USB cable. Now any signal source you connect to the MIC500USB can be recorded directly to your hard drive. Furthermore, Tracktion DAW software for composing, recording, editing, mixing, and sharing your music with the world is also included via a download link.

Good metal build quality with a variety of preset starting points that can be adjusted for warmth/limiting or tube distortion if required via the large gain dial. You can get a decent signal out of the quietest mic with this and it has phantom power for condenser mics. The built-in LED strip gives visual feedback to avoid clipping. What I like about this unit over the more expensive ART Tube MP Studio V3 or even higher priced units is the direct, headphones and USB output options so the signal can go direct to mixer and at the same time deliver it to headphones or powered monitor if desired. This will not radically alter your sound source but it will add subtle genuine tube warmth and presence that solid state preamps in your desk or DAW can only emulate. For me, this will probably get most use as a fancy tube DI Box for bass and acoustic guitar because I already have a way more expensive vocal preamp that can't be beat however, if a second vocalist turns up, this will help and at this price, it's a steal.Read more Read less
