Description

Designed for both astronomical and terrestrial use, Celestron 's PowerSeeker 60mm f/11.7 Alt-Az Refractor Telescope is an ideal instrument to introduce beginners to astronomy by giving them a complete setup for viewing the Moon, planets, meteor showers, and bright, deep-sky objects. Its manual alt-azimuth mount's single fork-arm design enables the optical tube to be aimed at or near the zenith for astronomical use, and pointed downward past the horizon for terrestrial viewing on a deck, through a window, or from an observational platform. Its adjustable-height aluminium tripod provides a stable observation platform, and its maximum height of 49" allows for comfortable viewing by most users. An integrated dew-shield helps to prevent condensation on the objective lens, while blocking stray terrestrial peripheral light from interfering with celestial observations.

The PowerSeeker is outfitted with a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser that accepts the various included accessory, plus any other 1.25" eyepiece or accessories. Observation options begin with two eyepieces that produce 35x and 175x power. A 3x Barlow lens will triple the magnification of any eyepiece, for more power. For land-use, Celestron gives you two tools. The first is an 90° erect-image prism that corrects views both horizontally and vertically while providing a comfortable viewing position. The second accessory is a 1.5x erect-image lens that maintains the straight viewing angle and also increases the magnification of the eyepieces slightly. Using this lens will generally be more comfortable when sitting, or observing with the telescope pointed down - such as from a deck or balcony.
