Description
Bring forth delay tones ranging from vintage, analogue bucket brigade to trippy, 8-bit lo-fi with DigiTech 's Obscura Altered Delay Pedal. In all, the Obscura Altered Delay pedal features four different delay types; Analogue, Tape, Lo-Fi, and Reverse. The Degrade knob can then be applied to alter each delay mode differently, depending on the selection. Analogue emulates a classic bucket brigade delay circuit and using the Degrade knob increases aliasing and grit. Select the Tape delay type for a sound which resembles an analogue tube-based tape delay, where the Degrade knob increases wow and flutter. The Lo-Fi mode imitates a vintage digital delay with limited digital bandwidth and low 8-bit sample rates. In Lo-Fi mode, the Degrade knob emulates the input channel clipping found on the emulated legacy delay hardware. Finally, the Reverse delay type removes the dry signal and instead plays back the repeats in reverse for an ethereal sound quality. In this mode, the Degrade knob adds tape saturation to the reversed sound. Using the Repeat/Hold feature, you can layer delays for trippy swirling sounds or gurgling repeats. For even more expansive sounds, the Obscura features stereo inputs and outputs.
In addition to the delay options, the Obscura features controls for output level, delay time, number of repeats, and tone. Delay time can be selected via the rotary knob or in tap-tempo mode. In tap-tempo mode you can tap out the tempo of your music on the footswitch and the Obscura will time its delay repeats accordingly. While using tap tempo, the Time knob can function as a multiplier to select eighth, dotted-eighth, and quarter-note subdivisions. A tails switch allows for the repeat signal to trail off even after the pedal has been bypassed. This mode prevents abrupt changes in signal and enables smoother transitions between on and off.
All of the functionality of the Obscura delay pedal is encased in an aluminium enclosure with a true-bypass, vacuum-style footswitch. Included with the Obscura are a StompLock knob guard for protecting your settings from accidental changes and a hook-and-loop Pedalboard Pad for cleanly installing the Obscura on your pedalboard.
