Ideal for singer-songwriters and guitarists, the third-generation Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation) is a 2x2 USB audio interface offering high-performance hardware, customisable mic tone, and a creative software bundle. The improved Scarlett microphone preamp features switchable phantom power and a selectable Air circuit, which adds brightness based on Focusrite's legendary ISA preamplifier. In addition to the XLR mic input, the Scarlett Solo provides a single 1/4" input with an instrument/line switch that allows it to accept signal from a guitar, bass, synthesiser, or drum machine.
24-bit / 192 kHz converters ensure that signals are captured and reproduced with detail and clarity. Listen through headphones or connect active speakers to the balanced 1/4" monitor outputs. Since the Scarlett Solo is powered via USB, you can take it anywhere your Mac or Windows computer can go. The extensive software bundle includes music production software, virtual instruments, plug-in effects, loops, and more—plenty of tools to kick-start your inspiration.

Bought this to replace an old allesis mixer, which had multiple inputs, eq, all kinds of stuff I never really used, as this plugs straight into logic. Sound out of it is glorious - way better than my previous one. Simple to set up and as well as gorgeous inputs on both channels, it can push sound out to headphones or external powered speakers. If you want simple and effective, with great clarity of sound, choose this. Pretty decent free software too. Oh, and it's really small and looks great too.Read more Read less

Do have to turn the gain all the way up when using my Rode PodMic, and mic the voice really close, so things are having to work a bit too hard with this mic, giving a little background hiss. Other mics are better but the PodMic's in widespread use, so this is something to be wary of. Add a Cloudlifter in-line preamp and the gain can be dialled back nicely. Air Mode works as advertised. Great audio from this unit on its own if your mic doesn't need extra help with the gain.Read more Read less
