Matrox Monarch EDGE E8 4K/Multi-HD Webcasting and Remote Production Encoder
Overview
Description
The Matrox Monarch EDGE E8 4K/Multi-HD Webcasting and Remote Production Encoder is a next-generation H.264 encoder with a powerful, low latency encoding engine. Packaging this codec with flexible connectivity in a compact form factor offers video professionals, system integrators, and broadcasting organizations better solutions to solve both new and existing challenges—while allowing them to use the world’s most popular codec.
Key Features:
Webcasting
Monarch EDGE provides broadcasters with robust, low-latency, and dynamic H.264 encoding capabilities, enabling them to leverage their existing over-the-top (OTT) services to deliver specialized web content. Broadcasters can now expand their reach beyond traditional linear programming by using the latest in webcasting innovations—such as high-frame-rate (HFR) 4K, 4K 360 VR, and multi-camera selection—to stream compelling live content to laptops/desktops, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs.
REMI
Monarch EDGE allows broadcasters to produce live, multi-camera sporting events while minimizing on-site expenses by keeping talent in-studio. A compact, low-latency, low-power remote production encoder, Monarch EDGE delivers synchronized, secure remote camera feeds to a master control room or to the cloud for production. Programs destined for web or OTT delivery can use the Monarch EDGE 4:2:0 8-bit encoder model.
High-Density Contribution
The contribution- or mezzanine-level encoding capabilities of Monarch EDGE provide broadcasters with a means to add additional or complementary backhaul feeds, or redundant contribution channels to their primary feeds. The optimized H.264 engine powering Monarch EDGE keeps data rates exceptionally low without sacrificing quality. I-frame-only streams reaching 150 Mbps can be delivered if quality is a high priority. Each input can be streamed at resolutions up to 1080p60 using the High 4:2:2 H.264 encoding profile. Powerful, real-time de-interlacing and scaling engines allow multi-resolution streams to be simultaneously created for each input.
