RME MADIface

Description

The HDSPe MADIface from RME is a computer audio & MIDI interface specifically designed for Mac and Windows laptops that feature an Expresscard slot. The term MADI stands for Multi-channel Audio Digital Interface. It's a protocol that allows for higher numbers of audio channels to be transferred digitally, while allowing for longer cable runs of over 300 feet (100 meters). The HDSPe MADIface needs to be attached to other MADI capable hardware, such as the RME ADI-648 Link to the ADI 648 here (which offers 8 ADAT optical inputs and outputs) in order for you to tap into its power.

MADI connections to external hardware are made through either fiber optic cable, or coaxial BNC, of which the HDSPe MADIface features an input and output of each. It's fully compatible with all MADI enabled equipment. The system makes it possible to run 64 inputs and 64 outputs of audio and MADI embedded MIDI, with sample rates up to 192 kHz, all on an ultra portable laptop computer.

In addition to being an audio & MIDI interface, the HDSPe MADIface can also act as an optical patchbay and router, a coaxial/optical converter and splitter, and a MADI redistributor, patchbay, and router.
