Description

The NiSi V5 Pro Starter Filter Kit includes three filters that can be used individually or in various combinations to improve the results of your photography by preventing overexposure, as well as a circular polariser to prevent distracting reflections or glare.

To allow these filters to be placed in front of a lens, this kit contains a V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder that is designed to allow for the convenient use of up to three 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters, along with the included 86mm circular polariser, an 82mm main adapter ring, and 3 step-up rings.

A leatherette pouch is included for storage and transport, as well as an air blower, microfiber cleaning cloth, carbon-compound cleaning eraser, and a dust cap to maintain the clarity of the filters' glass surfaces.

This NiSi V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit allows for the convenient use of up to three separately-available, 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters along with an included circular polariser. This kit comes fully assembled and features an aluminium-alloy filter holder that is pre-installed with three pairs of plastic filter slots, a configuration that accommodates three rectangular filters. Each slot is designed to grip an installed filter only along the surface of the filter's edges. Contact with a filter's front or rear-facing surfaces is avoided, particularly when using graduated filters whose effect can be adjusted to better suit changing lighting conditions or creative demands by sliding them up or down within a filter slot.

Use of the NiSi V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit can be easily accomplished by first screwing the included 82mm adapter ring onto a lens with 82mm front filter threads. Step-up rings are included to allow the adapter ring to be used with lenses that have 67mm, 72mm, or 77mm front filter threads; while additional step-up rings are separately available for lenses with 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, or 62mm front filter threads. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking lever helps to provide a reliable connection that allows the holder to be rotated 360°, further benefiting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning.

Together, the 82mm adapter ring and filter holder also accommodate the included NiSi 86mm circular polariser filter while allowing that filter's edges to be easily gripped for convenient installation or removal. When combined with the filter holder and the adapter ring, as well as an optional step-up ring, the polariser filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. In such instances, an external dial on the adapter ring allows for the independent rotation of the circular polariser.

Adapter rings for lenses with 86mm or 95mm front filter threads are also separately available. The combination of either of those adapter rings with the filter holder cannot accommodate a NiSi 86mm circular polariser filter; however a polarisation effect can instead be obtained by placing a separately available, 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick polariser filter between one pair of the filter holder's slots.

The NiSi 100x150mm Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a soft-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that do not have a strongly defined transition between the sky and the foreground. Neutral density filters do not affect the colouration of the image and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering the lens.

The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums to eliminate colour casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

This NiSi 100x150mm Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as colour fidelity, and measures 2mm thick.

The NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 1.8 Filter is an ND filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the colouration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The 100mm System All in One Case from NiSi is made of a polyurethane leather, and the case has a top lid closure. The case accommodates eight 100 x 100 or 100 x 150mm filters along with a V5/V5 Pro Holder, circular polariser, and three adapter rings. This strong and durable case can be worn over the shoulder with the included strap or on your waist via the belt loop.
