Universal Audio Apollo 16 mkII - Thunderbolt 2 Audio Interface with Real-Time UAD Processing
Overview
Description
The Apollo 16 mkII - Thunderbolt 2 Audio Interface with Real-Time UAD Processing from Universal Audio improves upon the original Apollo 16 offering better total harmonic distortion, dynamic range, and signal-to-noise specifications. This audio interface features 16 analogue inputs and outputs via four rear-panel DB-25 connections and records at digital audio resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Additionally, the Apollo 16 mkII provides a stereo pair of dedicated balanced XLR monitor outputs— preserving all 16 output channels for functional use. Designed for Mac and Windows computers, this Thunderbolt 2 interface is backwards compatible with all Thunderbolt 1 devices and adds the benefit of onboard UAD-2 QUAD processing to your computer system, allowing you to track real-time audio through UAD plug-ins without overloading your CPU.
The Apollo 16's advanced circuitry creates high dynamic range recordings with very low distortion rates. The DB-25 inputs and DC-coupled outputs can be easily paired with mixing consoles, outboard processors, headphone systems, and more. High-visibility LEDs provide input and output metering with no "hot spots" or light bleed. Additionally, the Apollo 16's routing capabilities allow four stereo Cue mixes with individually assignable outputs as well as a new "Virtual I/O" feature that enables real-time UAD Processing of DAW tracks and virtual instruments. Apollo 16 also supports standalone operation, letting you use the audio connections and last-used DSP mixer settings, even without a computer connected.
The Apollo 16 mkII includes the Analogue Classics Plus plug-in package, a comprehensive collection of hardware emulations including the Fairchild 670, UA 610-B Tube Preamp and AEQ, UA Precision Enhancer Hz, 1176SE/LN Classic Limiting Amplifiers, Pultec Pro Equalisers, Teletronix LA-2A Classic Levelling Amplifier, CS-1 Precision Channel Strip, RealVerb Pro, Pro-Co Rat Raw Distortion Stompbox, and Softube Guitar and Bass Amp Room Essentials. A total of four Apollos and six total UAD-2 devices can be combined via the included Apollo Expanded software, allowing Thunderbolt users the ability to expand their I/O and DSP. The Apollo 16 mkII ships with a power supply, IEC power cord, and four rack-mount screws.
