The Atomos Ninja RAW 5.2" HDMI Monitor/Recorder is engineered as a wired companion for the Ninja TX and Ninja TX GO, combining professional-grade on-camera monitoring with advanced recording capabilities for both filmmakers and content creators. Its robust feature set includes HDMI 2.0 input and output, direct camera control, a vivid 1500 cd/m² touchscreen display, built-in support for ProRes RAW, DNx, and H.265 codecs, and versatile recording options to CFexpress Type B cards or USB-C media. With additional highlights such as a tally light, support for NDI/HX3, camera-to-cloud integration via an optional USB-C adapter, and comprehensive codec support, the Ninja RAW is built for agile and flexible productions.
5.2" Touchscreen Display
The Ninja RAW is fitted with a 5.2" IPS touchscreen, offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with an impressive 1500 cd/m² brightness for accurate and vibrant viewing in any lighting conditions—even bright daylight. It supports 8/10-bit color processing, HDR monitoring, Rec. 709 color space, and seamless calibration with Calibrite ColorChecker Display Pro/Plus, ensuring color accuracy and quality for monitoring and reviewing your footage.
Updated Linux Operating System
Powered by the AtomOS Linux operating system and optimized for the Ninja TX, TX GO, and RAW series, the interface features a newly designed look, enhanced tools, and improved efficiency, all contributing to cooler and smoother operation on set.
Comprehensive Color and Metadata Support
Support for professional log formats from leading camera manufacturers such as Sony, ARRI, JVC, RED, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, and Canon is built-in. Users can upload custom 3D LUTs, and export HDR conversions to LOG, HLG, PQ, or Dolby Vision formats, ensuring precise visual workflows. The monitor also offers robust RAW metadata recording, capturing essential details like white balance, exposure index, shutter speed or angle, iris settings, ISO, gamma, and gamut information.
HDMI Input/Output
With HDMI 2.0, the Ninja RAW supports impressive input resolutions up to 8K30, DCI/UHD 4K60, and 1080p120. A loop-through output allows you to send the HDMI signal to additional monitors, wireless transmitters, or live streaming encoders, making it easy to integrate into a variety of production environments.
Tally Light Functionality
Add a tally light for clear, visual indication of your recording status. When recording or broadcasting, the light glows red to signal “on-air” status. A green indicator lets talent know the device is on standby or in preview mode, streamlining communication on busy shoots.
Recording and USB Features
Equipped with a CFexpress Type B slot and dual USB-C outputs, the Ninja RAW ensures fast, reliable media transfer using PCIe and NVMe protocols for a futureproof recording workflow. The USB-C ports also support calibration, 3D LUT uploads, audio device integration, and firmware updates. With the AtomOS 12.2.1 over-the-air/download update, the Ninja RAW expands support to record ProRes RAW directly from the Canon EOS R6 Mark III—enabling up to 6960 x 3672p30 and 4320 x 2278p60 RAW captures.
Power Options
The monitor features an L-series battery plate for NP-F batteries, with an optional battery eliminator available for continuous DC power. A dedicated USB-C input allows for 30W PD (Power Delivery) operation with the included cable, offering flexible powering solutions for various shoot scenarios.
SegmentPro
The SegmentPro recording feature lets you automatically divide long recordings into smaller, user-defined segments—without dropping a frame. This workflow-friendly option not only minimizes file management risks but also streamlines media sharing and archiving, especially for lengthy shoots.
Optional Network Integration
Expand workflow possibilities with a separately purchased USB-C network adapter. This enables direct Camera to Cloud (C2C) uploads, allowing video files to be sent straight to the cloud—including the ATOMOSphere platform, Adobe Frame.io, and Dropbox. NDI integration via the adapter also means the Ninja RAW can function as either an NDI source, accessible to all connected authorized devices, or as an NDI receiver for low-bandwidth, high-quality video production.
Comprehensive Monitoring Tools
The Ninja RAW is loaded with user-friendly, one-touch monitoring tools to assist focus, framing, and exposure. Key features include focus peaking, zoom (2:1/1:1), zebra patterns, false color (supporting ARRI and EL Zone), frame guides, SMPTE safe areas, grid markers, waveforms, RGB parade, vectorscope, and flexible 3D/1D LUT management (.cube file compatible). Anamorphic de-squeeze options further support the use of anamorphic lenses, allowing for precise aspect ratio correction during monitoring.
Control Options
Intuitive onboard control is facilitated by a combination of multifunction buttons and the touchscreen interface. The Ninja RAW supports auto HDMI camera triggers from Canon and Sony cameras via the Atomos Open Standard, as well as LANC control and calibration using a separately available USB-C to serial cable. After the latest OTA firmware update, additional camera control functionality is also enabled on the monitor, continuing to enhance operational flexibility for professional productions.
