Atomos was co-founded in 2010 by former Perth resident Ian Overliese and Sydneysider Jeromy Young., with their first product the Atomos Ninja, an HD recorder and monitor. Atomos quickly gained attention within the industry due to its ability to provide studio-grade image control combined with a highly portable device at an affordable price.
