Intended for electric guitar players, the DigiTech Whammy Ricochet Pitch Shift Pedal offers classic Whammy sounds in a more compact stompbox design. Unlike the original, it does not have an integrated expression pedal. Instead, it has separate controls for adjusting the rise and fall time using stacked, concentric Shift and Return knobs. The Pitch selector knob allows you to set the desired interval of the pitch-shifted note, while the Range switch determines whether the pitch will be shifted upwards or downwards. The LED Trajectory ladder provides a visual display of how the pedal is affecting your pitch.
This pedal offers seven intervallic selections, including 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, Octave, Double Octave, and Octave+Dry for a stacked pitch sound. When combined with distortion, these sounds can make rhythm parts sound powerful and commanding. One interesting feature of the Whammy Ricochet is the Momentary toggle switch. This switch allows you to use the bypass footswitch in different ways and even changes it from buffered to true bypass depending on the mode you're using.
