The JBL 7-Series 708P 8" Bi-Amplified Master Reference Monitor is a self-powered monitor designed for critical music recording, film post, and broadcast-production applications. With JBL's Image Control Waveguide, this monitor offers natural output, detail, an expansive soundstage, and accuracy in various room sizes. It features the 2409H high-frequency compression driver with a low-mass, annular diaphragm for smooth response beyond 36 kHz and low distortion. Additionally, the 728G low-frequency transducer provides 14mm peak-to-peak excursion and greater linearity for low-frequency output below 35 Hz.
The drivers of the 708P deliver significantly higher output compared to other studio monitors. The monitor's dual-amplification system includes a 250W amp for the high-frequency transducer and another 250W amp for the low-frequency transducer. This system offers improved output and allows for greater listening distances, making it ideal for post-production or mastering environments.
To ensure accuracy and neutrality, JBL's Image Control Waveguide provides a wide sweet spot with increased sonic detail. The 708P also includes onboard room equalization to compensate for room acoustics. It features twelve bands of Room AEQ and eight bands of User AEQ for customized response curves. Moreover, the monitor offers user-enabled digital delay for virtual alignment of speakers relative to the listening position, as well as AV Synchronization delay to account for latency in video displays.
