Enjoy powerful multi-channel sound and THX certification with the HT-S9700THX 7.1-Channel Network Home Theatre System from Onkyo . This system produces up to 115W per channel at 6 ohms and consists of a network-enabled A/V receiver, two front speakers, two surround speakers, two surround back speakers, a centre speaker, and an external 125W down-firing powered subwoofer. It can also accept optional height speakers for Dolby Atmos playback.

Built-in Bluetooth connectivity allows you to wirelessly pair with other Bluetooth-enabled audio sources such as computers, smartphones and tablets for music playback. Onboard Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity gives you the ability to stream music from Internet radio sources like Pandoura and Slacker. You can also connect high-resolution audio sources to the receiver's front panel USB.

The Onkyo HT-S9700THX has seven HDMI inputs for connecting audio and video sources. It also supports mobile device MHL connectivity. Additionally, this system can upscale video sources to conform to 4K displays. There is also a digital optical and two digital coaxial connections for interfacing additional audio sources. Built-in high-resolution audio support allows you to take advantage of high-resolution surround sound formats like DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD.

Dolby Atmos Sound

Dolby Atmos uses object-oriented mixing techniques to layer independent sound elements over a channel-based audio bed. Content creators mix soundtracks in a 3D space, moving the sound around the theatre through height and surround channels. The result is a realistic and immersive movie experience. To use Dolby Atmos, simply instal a pair of ceiling speakers or Onkyo's Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker modules, which are sold separately.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Inside

The HT-S9700THX's A/V receiver has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies built-in. Simply complete the one-time Wi-Fi setup, download the free control app for iOS and Android devices, and you'Voe got a full range of remote control and audio streaming features in the palm of your hand. You can also pair your Bluetooth-capable device and stream directly to your home theatre. With Advanced Music Optimiser DSP compensating for compression, music via Bluetooth is enhanced for sonic clarity.

Built-In Internet Radio and Streaming

The receiver comes loaded with Spotify, Pandoura, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Slacker, AUPEO! and TuneIn. You can select a station and search for music available on these services via the free Onkyo app on your smartphone. Spotify Connect is available via firmware update for premium subscribers.

Factory-Matched and Balanced THX Speaker System

The included speaker system is optimised to provide an immersive surround sound experience. Solid MDF cabinets feature A-OMF diaphragms (layered polyethylene naphthalate and flexible cotton weave material to improve stiffness and heat resistance) for vivid and natural mid-range performance. The surround speakers are equipped with 5.1" A-OMF drivers to ensure you get maximum impact from all directions. Rounding out the package is a high-capacity acoustic-suspension subwoofer fitted with a 12" down-firing cone for 125 watts of bass. Additionally, these speakers feature detachable grilles.

AccuEQ Calibration

AccuEQ calibrates your system to suit your home theatre space. Just connect your speakers, plug-in the included mic, and the system automatically measures aspects such as speaker distance, type, crossover, and output, while taking into account any sonic reflections from your walls and floor. The system by-passes your front left and right speakers to preserve the purity of those channels and optimises the frequency response of the remaining speakers for balanced surround sound regardless of room shape or furnishings.

THX Integrated System Plus Certified

THX I/S Plus systems are well-suited for spaces where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is about 8'. All components within the system are rigorously tested by THX to make sure they deliver the same low-distortion, high-volume sound you experience in a commercial theatre. Listening modes for music, movies, and games are included along with THX Loudness Plus.

Supports Next-Generation HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 Copy Protection

The HT-S9700THX's A/V receiver has HDMI 2.0 connections that support 4K/60 Hz and 21:9 format, and also offers Digital Rights Management (DRM) copy protection compatibility.

Phono and High-Resolution Audio Playback

The receiver's dedicated phono input lets you enjoy your classic vinyl records when connecting a turntable. This receiver also supports gapless playback, DSD, Double DSD, FLAC, and ALAC along with other Hi-Res formats.

Wide Range Amp Technology

This receiver houses a large, high-power transformer to drive discrete amps that help reduce distortion. Delivering 115 W per channel, the HT-S9700THX's A/V receiver packs enough powerful drive movies and music alike. Additionally, Phase-Matching Bass Enhancement optimises low frequencies while preserving mid-range clarity. It counters phase shifting by synchronising the timing of different frequencies. The result is deep, well-defined bass that doesn't blur vocals or strings.

4K Video Upscaling with Qdeo Technology

Qdeo technology from Marvell automatically upscales low-res video to 1080p (for HDTV) and 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) for use with a compatible UHD display.
