Sony
lpha a7 IV Mirrorless Digital Camera with 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens
Prepare to be inspired. The Sony Alpha a7 IV's true-to-life resolution and remarkable AI-powered autofocus complement a range of world-class features at the cutting edge of imaging technology. Delivering outstanding performance and excellent image quality in both stills and movies, the α7 IV's new 33.0 megapixel1 Exmor R CMOS image sensor provides high-speed readout, high sensitivity, low noise, and highly accurate colour reproduction.
The α7 IV uses the latest image processor to offer greatly enhanced performance, with improved image quality and colour reproduction. Fast processing speeds facilitate comfortable continuous shooting as well as responsive operation while performing data transfers.
In addition to boasting a larger pixel count and higher resolution than the α7 III, the α7 IV and its powerful Exmor R sensor represent a significant evolution of Sony's original image technology, for improvements that go beyond mere numbers. Experience new levels of colour gradation and detail rendering as well as soft, natural-looking human skin textures.
The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is an updated “holy trinity” standard zoom, packing evolved optics and AF performance into a convenient, compact, lightweight zoom design that offers maximum mobility for both stills and movies. It is an ideal match for high-performance compact α system bodies, and will cover a wide range of shooting situations.
Camera Features:
- 5-axis optical image stabilisation. The α7 IV's high-precision stabilisation unit and gyro sensors work together with image-stabilisation algorithms to achieve up to 5.5 steps of shutter-speed compensation, to maximise the high-resolution performance of the camera's 33.0MP image sensor.
- Improved Real-time Eye AF. The high speed of the latest image processing engine provides a significant boost to Real-time Eye AF performance, even when the subject is looking up, down, or sideways. It is also possible to use Touch Tracking to initiate Real-time Tracking of any subject in the frame, simultaneously initiating Real-time Eye AF if an eye is detected, simply by touching the screen.
- Real-time Eye AF for birds. For the first time in the α series, bird-eye detection is available in movies as well as still shots – simply preset the subject to "bird". The camera's astonishing speed and precision allow automatic tracking of a specific bird, whether it's perched somewhere or in flight, keeping the eye in steady focus despite any fast and unpredictable movements.
- 4K 60p movies with smooth, natural-looking capture. It is now possible to record movies at up to 4K 60p with full pixel readout and without binning, taking advantage of the α7 IV's brand-new image sensor and wide dynamic range for smooth images of fast-moving subjects.
- 7K oversampling for beautifully expressive, richly detailed images. When recording 4K movies at up to 30p, full-frame 7K oversampling is possible, resulting in high-resolution, highly detailed 4K. Select the mode that best suits your purpose, and let the camera deliver.
- All-Intra encoding supported in addition to Long GOP. All-Intra14 recording encodes every frame independently, at bitrates of up to 600Mbps, capturing complex motion more accurately and allowing more efficient editing workflows.
- Support for S-Cinetone, Creative Look and S-Log. The S-Cinetone colour matrix, based on technology acquired through development of CineAlta cameras such as the VENICE, produces an impressive look with beautiful skin tones without post-editing. The Creative Look presets create other interesting visual moods in-camera, or you can use S-Log gamma to access the camera's full dynamic range (15+ stops) for smoother post-production workflows.
- New Breathing Compensation. The a7 IV leverages our parallel lens and camera development to provide innovative Focus Breathing Compensation, exclusively for Sony’s E-mount lenses. By minimising the field-of-view shift that can occur, during movie shooting, when you rack focus with some lenses, you can achieve impressive results – for new creative possibilities from a diverse range of Sony’s E-mount lenses.
Lens Features:
- High resolution rivals the best primes. Excellent contrast at high spatial frequencies means superb resolution even at f/2.8. Two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (Extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements, and a floating focus mechanism control chromatic aberration, astigmatism, distortion, and coma at all zoom and aperture settings. Nano AR Coating II subdues flare and ghosting for outstanding clarity.
- Stunning G Master bokeh. Exquisite f/2.8 bokeh extends throughout the zoom range thanks to advanced optical design and a new 11-blade aperture unit. Bokeh is enhanced by precise control of spherical aberration during design and for each lens during manufacture. Two XA elements with 0.01-micron precision suppress onion ring bokeh. Minimum focusing distance is 0.21 meters at 24 mm and 0.30 meters at 70 mm, with max. magnification of 0.32x.
- The most compact, lightweight, and versatile in its class. The smallest and lightest f/2.8 24-70mm zoom in its class, this lens offers unprecedented flexibility and freedom. It weighs just 695 grams, 191 grams less than the previous model. Its length has been reduced by 16 mm, and overall volume has been reduced by approximately 18%. Impressive portability and mobility make it a good choice for professional or enthusiast still or movie use in a wide range of situations.
- Fast, precise AF and excellent response. Four of Sony’s original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism, and advanced lens control achieve high AF precision and approximately 2x better tracking performance while zooming than the previous model. With a compatible body it can shoot at up to 30 frames per second. The new aperture unit also contributes to high speed, enabling full AF tracking performance even when shooting with the aperture stopped down.
- Movie features refined for visual creators. The latest lens design technology reduces unwanted image shifts and angle of view variations for smooth, expressive movie imagery. XD Linear Motors enhance AF and tracking performance, enabling high frame rate recording for exquisite detail. Independent focus and aperture rings are provided, and Linear Response MF ensures direct, linear focus ring response when focusing manually.
- Excellent control and reliability in any environment. An updated dust and moisture resistant design provides extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions, and a fluorine coating keeps the front element clean. Convenient operation of circular polarising and variable ND filters (optional) is provided by a special opening in the supplied lens hood. Two customisable focus hold buttons are provided for easy access and convenient control when shooting in any orientation.
