Designed for small to medium-sized businesses that rely on continuous 24/7 data services, the Synology RackStation RS1226+ 8-Bay NAS Enclosure (48TB) is a versatile and dependable storage system built to simplify data backups, file sharing and synchronisation, productivity tools, and other essential office applications with 8x Synology Plus Series 6Tb. It delivers sequential read speeds of up to 2300 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1500 MB/s. This unit features 8 drive bays, each of which natively supports 3.5" SATA hard drives, along with 2.5" SATA hard drives and SSDs. It also includes two NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 slots for SSD caching. If additional capacity is required, the optional RX426 expansion unit adds four more drive bays. This model is powered by a single 250 W power supply.
Performance and connectivity
The RackStation RS1226+ is powered by a 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core processor and 4 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. It also includes two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and one USB-C expansion port. Network connectivity is provided through two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. For further expansion, there is one PCIe 3.0 x8/x4 slot that can be used for 10/25GbE NICs, Fibre Channel adapters, and other add-ons.
RAID and storage flexibility
The RackStation RS1226+ runs on the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system and supports a wide range of RAID modes designed to provide data redundancy, improved speed, or a balance of both. Supported RAID modes include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Basic, and Synology Hybrid RAID. For users who do not need RAID functionality, JBOD is also available, allowing each drive bay to be used individually.
Cooling and energy efficiency
Synology has designed the RackStation RS1226+ with energy efficiency in mind. In addition to featuring two 80 × 80 mm fans to help maintain cool operating temperatures, the server supports multiple scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further reduce power consumption and operating costs. It operates on 100–240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and includes an accessory pack, an AC power cord, and a C13 to C14 power cord. Protection is backed by a limited 3-year hardware warranty.
