Description

The VOX MV50 AC 50W Amplifier Head has been designed to take the classic sound of a VOX tube amplifier and shrink its form factor down to a miniaturised size. Measuring only 13.5 x 7.5 x 10 cm, this amplifier head provides 50W of power and is capable of driving cabinets at four, eight, and 16 Ohms. The amplifier accomplishes this feat thanks in no small part to an all-analogue preamp circuit utilising Nutube technology, as well as analogue components which reproduce the character of traditional VOX tube amplifiers. A class D power amp complements the preamp, and taken as a whole, the unit delivers the warm clean tone and adaptable overdrive you’ve come to expect from the traditional AC line.

The MV50 AC provides one 1/4" guitar input, one 1/4" speaker output, and a 1/4" headphone/line output. Gain, tone, and volume controls are provided to tweak the amp's tone. A switch on the back of the amplifier allows you to raise or lower the resistance to sculpt your tone and interface with compatible cabinets.

To suit a wide variety of cabinets, an AEQ switch on the rear of the amp head has been provided, giving you two tone-shaping options. DEEP mode puts the emphasis on the low-frequency range and is particularly useful with smaller cabinets; FLAT mode, on the other hand, allows you to take full advantage of a larger speaker’s inherent tonal characteristics. The 1/4" headphone/line output utilises a cabinet simulation circuit to offer you the full sound of an amplifier/head combo when routing signal to headphones, DIs, recording interfaces, mixers, PAs, and more.

Nutube Technology

Looking more like a chip than a conventional valve, the Nutube is a vacuum tube utilising technology from vacuum fluorescent displays. As with conventional vacuum tubes, the Nutube is constructed with an anode, grid, and filament, and operates as a complete triode tube. Furthermore, it generates the response as well as the same rich harmonic characteristics of conventional vacuum tubes. Its miniature size reduces power consumption over conventional tubes, and its construction is said to offer up to 30,000 hours of continuous operating life.
