This Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 35mm f/2 Aspherical Lens is an optically refined, apochromatic wide-angle prime designed for full frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. When used with APS-C format cameras, it can provide a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. Its bright f/2 maximum aperture is beneficial for working in dimmer conditions and also affords greater control over focus position for selective focus applications.
Thanks to its apochromat design and incorporation of anomalous partial dispersion and aspherical elements, a range of aberrations are markedly eliminated or suppressed to achieve imagery of high resolution, sharpness, clarity, colour fidelity, and contrast reproducibility. Additionally, a floating elements system helps to maintain consistent performance throughout the focusing range. The lens sports a manual focus design, along with a high precision helicoid, to provide refined focusing control and enable smooth operation.
Furthermore, a Selective Aperture Control system permits the manual aperture ring to be de-clicked for silent exposure adjustment that is beneficial to video recording applications. This Sony E-mount lens is compatible with Sony E-mount features, which include Exif data transfer, manual focus assist, auto lens correction, and 5-axis lens stabilisation. With its 12 diaphragm blades, the lens can create pleasing bokeh when working with shallow depth of field techniques. Rear and front lens caps, as well as a metal lens hood, are supplied along with the lens.
