If you've been looking for a powerful and versatile Thunderbolt 3 docking station that restores many of the ports and connectivity removed from modern laptops, consider the LaCie 48TB 2big Dock 2-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array (2 x 24TB). The 2big Thunderbolt 3 Dock provides 48TB of storage, made up of two 24TB Seagate IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 8.9 cm enterprise-class hard drives. It comes formatted as exFAT, so it works with both Windows and Mac systems right out of the box, and it is configured as hardware-controlled RAID 0 for improved performance, though without data redundancy. RAID 1 and JBOD are also supported. Each of the two 8.9 cm SATA III drive bays is hot-swappable, allowing failed hard drives to be removed and replaced.
Thunderbolt 3 connectivity
On the back, the 2big features two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports that let you connect to your host system at speeds up to 550 MB/s. The Thunderbolt 3 interface can also deliver up to 45W of power to connected devices and supports daisy-chaining up to five additional Thunderbolt 3 peripherals, including displays, or one USB-C peripheral. Using the second Thunderbolt 3 port together with the DisplayPort 1.4 interface, the 2big supports two 4K displays or one 8K display.
Front-facing ports and media slots
On the front, the 2big includes a built-in USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port that can charge your USB device or connect a USB drive or digital camera for file offloading. It also includes dedicated CFexpress Type B, CFast 2.0, and UHS-II SDXC card slots, allowing you to directly transfer content from your drone, DSLR, GoPro, and more. This dock can store hundreds of hours of 4K footage and hundreds of thousands of raw images.
Included accessories and warranty
The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt 3 Dock includes a Thunderbolt 3 cable and an external power supply. It is backed by a limited 5-year warranty.
Compatibility note
Please note that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are supported only when using Apple's Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter with systems running macOS 10.12 Sierra or later. Also, the CFexpress Type B reader is not compatible with XQD media.
