Leica fuses the image quality of a fully multi-coated optical path with the practicality of an 1100-metre laser rangefinder and integrated ballistics calculator to create its Leica Geovid R 10x42 Binocular/Rangefinder. Using an infrared laser rangefinder and a built-in inclinometer, the on-board computer adjusts the displayed range for more precise shot placement with an in-view four-character LED display that allows the observer to view the range without having to take their eyes off the subject. This version of the Geovid displays distances in metres and yards, and is controlled with a convenient single push button.
Complementing its ranging qualities, the Geovid sports Leica's proprietary anti-reflection lens coatings to boost light transmission and improve colour and contrast. The combination of a powerful 10x magnification and a wide 63° viewing angle provide an immersive observational experience while being highly functional for mid to long-range use. Protecting the optics and electronics is a lightweight and durable aluminium alloy chassis that is nitrogen-filled for fogproof and waterproof performance in extreme conditions. It is wrapped in a protective armour that also provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather.
