A prised focal length for portraiture, the FAE 85mm f/1.4 GM from Sony is a fast, short-telephoto lens designed for E-mount mirrorless digital cameras. Characterised by its flattering perspective and fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens is adept at isolation focus for shallow depth of field effects, as well as performing in low-light conditions. The optical design incorporates three extra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and one XA (extreme aspherical) element, which significantly controls spherical aberrations for a high degree of image sharpness and clarity. Additionally, a Nano AR coating has been applied to limit ghosting and lens flare for increased contrast and colour fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Pairing a bright f/1.4 aperture with a short-telephoto focal length, this 85mm lens is ideally suited for portraiture and other situations where focus control is paramount.

Complementing the optical assets, this lens is also notable for its inclusion of an 11-blade circular diaphragm to produce smooth, soft-edged bokeh with selective focus imagery. For controlling focus, a linear SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) is employed that is quick and quiet, and also lends more responsive control for manual focus operation. The lens also sports a dust- and moisture-sealed design to support shooting in inclement conditions and a dedicated focus hold button, AF/MF switch, and manual aperture ring lend further control while shooting.

Camera Features:

• 5-axis optical image stabilisation. The α7 IV's high-precision stabilisation unit and gyro sensors work together with image-stabilisation algorithms to achieve up to 5.5 steps of shutter-speed compensation, to maximise the high-resolution performance of the camera's 33.0MP image sensor.
• Improved Real-time Eye AF. The high speed of the latest image processing engine provides a significant boost to Real-time Eye AF performance, even when the subject is looking up, down, or sideways. It is also possible to use Touch Tracking to initiate Real-time Tracking of any subject in the frame, simultaneously initiating Real-time Eye AF if an eye is detected, simply by touching the screen.
• Real-time Eye AF for birds. For the first time in the α series, bird-eye detection is available in movies as well as still shots – simply preset the subject to "bird". The camera's astonishing speed and precision allow automatic tracking of a specific bird, whether it's perched somewhere or in flight, keeping the eye in steady focus despite any fast and unpredictable movements.
• 4K 60p movies with smooth, natural-looking capture. It is now possible to record movies at up to 4K 60p with full pixel readout and without binning, taking advantage of the α7 IV's brand-new image sensor and wide dynamic range for smooth images of fast-moving subjects.
• 7K oversampling for beautifully expressive, richly detailed images. When recording 4K movies at up to 30p, full-frame 7K oversampling is possible, resulting in high-resolution, highly detailed 4K. Select the mode that best suits your purpose, and let the camera deliver.

The S-Cinetone colour matrix, based on technology acquired through development of CineAlta cameras such as the VENICE, produces an impressive look with beautiful skin tones without post-editing.
