With the shoe mount on the left side of the camera, you can then mount a light or microphone without obstructing the fold-out screen, a helpful feature when you are shooting from the front of the camera for vlogging or selfies. The plate instals into the camera's shoe mount and strap slot via a m2.5 screw to prevent twisting, and a rubber pad prevents scratching. Additionally, there is a slot for a hand or shoulder strap on the side of the plate.
