Fuel3D SCANIFY Handheld 3D Scanner
Overview
Description
Designed to be used as simply as a point-and-shoot camera, the SCANIFY 3D Scanner from Fuel3D captures three-dimensional objects in just a few clicks. Hold the SCANIFY and take a "picture" of your 3D object from each side - front, back, and sides - and the included Fuel3D Studio Software will merge it into a 3D image file. With each click, the SCANIFY takes a series of simultaneous images from different illumination positions, and combines the gathered colour, depth, and detail information. No lasers or infrared technology are used; two cameras and three flashes operate in a fraction of a second to capture objects up to 8.3 x 11.8" in size at resolutions as fine as 350 microns. If you want to capture something larger, multiple scans can be taken of a single subject and then aligned and merged within the Fuel3D software to create larger models. The software and scanner work with Windows 7 operating system and higher.
The SCANIFY is best suited for capturing continuous surfaces with smooth curvature, varying colours or textures, non-shiny matte surfaces, and opaque objects. Items smaller than 10cm or transparent objects whose depth is difficult to capture may not be captured with detail and accuracy.
To facilitate successful image capture, three sticky-backed tracking targets are included with the SCANIFY. Using the targets helps offset movement during handheld scanning or capture of a live subject, such as a person or animal. The target is applied to the subject for use as a reference; the scanner measures its relative position and orientation with respect to the target, which results in an accurate, sharp image. The targets can be removed from the image after capture with the cropping tool in the Fuel3D Studio software.
The SCANIFY must be plugged in to a power outlet to operate, and a series of adapter plugs are included for international use. Also included is a power adapter, USB cable, and lens cloth.
