This 5040B 6.5" Active Subwoofer from Genelec has a built-in 40W amplifier and provides an accurate low frequency response down to 35 Hz, in a compact enclosure with a modern visual appearance. The 5040B was designed to sonically pair with the 6010B studio monitors, and it can be used with Genelec's 8020 and 8030 monitors as well, for critical listening purposes and home entertainment systems. The subwoofer is built with Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) which detects if an audio signal is present, and automatically powers up the subwoofer. It also automatically powers it off when no audio signal is detected, reducing the energy consumption to less than 0.5 watts. Bass Roll-Off and Crossover Phase switches are provided on the base of the unit, to optimize the response of the system to its given environment and configuration. The distribution of frequencies to the woofer and various speaker outputs are handled by a built-in crossover and a fixed high pass filter. The 5040B features a 3.5mm stereo mini-plug input, for direct connection to a computer's audio output and portable media players, as well as six RCA inputs and five RCA outputs, for 2.1 and 5.1 surround sound applications.
