PreSonus is an American manufacturer of Pro Audio Products and Audio Software, founded by L.S.U. electrical engineering graduates Jim Odom and Brian Smith in 1995, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Their first Presonus branded product was the multi-channel digital processor DCP-8 (including compression, gating and mix automation) that could control analog audio via MIDI. Subsequent developments included the DigiMax multi-channel microphone preamplifier with ADAT output, the Central Station (monitor controller) with talkback, and multi-channel FireWire interfaces.

In 2009, Presonus Acquired KristalLabs Software Ltd, a Hamburg based startup founded by former Steinberg developers Wolfgang Kundrus and Matthias Juwan. Their product, a Studio recording software is now the Presonus Studio One DAW suite of products.

In 2008, they released the Presonus AudioBox USB audio/MIDI interface and by 2009, the company had launched its StudioLive digital mixers, designed for live and studio recording and integrating with Studio Live Software. In 2011 PreSonus jointly developed the Audio Random Access (ARA) plug-in extension with Celemony, to allow greater integration between audio plug-ins and DAW software.

Presonus Pro Audio Products and sofware are available in New Zealand and Australia from Rubber Monkey
